The British Hen Welfare Trust re-homes more than 50,000 ex-commercial hens due for slaughter every year. We also raise awareness of hen welfare and encourage people to influence this through their shopping baskets. The charity is funded entirely through supporter donations, meaning we rely on income generated through re-homings and other fundraising activities. In order to generate this income so we can continue saving hens, and for traceability purposes, we collect personal data from re-homers and other donors. This ensures we can keep supporters abreast of charity progress, contact you with any hen-related news such as Avian Influenza outbreaks and appeal for funds to continue our life-saving work. Our communications come in many forms including our Chicken & Egg magazine, via e-newsletters and other emails, in the post and over the telephone.
This document explains how the British Hen Welfare Trust uses your personal data when it is collected via any means. If you have any concerns regarding our use of your data please contact us by emailing email@example.com or calling 01884 860084. All data captured and held will be used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
The BHWT has various means by which it collects data from its supporters. People can give us their information when they register or via other submission forms for example when you submit a photo or enter a competition. This allows us to contact you about upcoming re-homings, provide you with other information, acknowledge your donations or add you to our newsletter mailing list.
In addition to the above, we collect information automatically about your visit to our website. Please see our About Our Cookies page for more details.
